Help! Ash-like smell for days after burning a fire
Hello! I am hoping to get some answers to our fireplace woes. We purchased this 1993 home exactly a year ago. We have noticed that every time we burn a fire, the house smells like ash or campfire for a few days after, despite cleaning out the ash from the chimney. We have had the chimney inspected 2 times and cleaned once.

Please advise! Neighbours wood smoke blowing into my home
My family and I just moved into a new house 4 months ago located next to a wood burner. He has a wood stove that has been used all winter as well as into the spring as their primary source of heat. This would be no issue of course, but the problem is that the smoke is billowing laterally / downward from the chimney and into our home.

Jotul F500 V1 Oslo smoking issues after maintenance
I moved into a house with a Jotul F500 V1 Oslo stove in June 2020. It was original to the house and started service around 2003. We have been burning wood (about 3 cords/yr) "fine" with annual chimney sweeps. All the stove behavior was expected and I was able to use it without issue. This...

Building house soon, Want wood furnace and heatpump...can it be done ...
Hydroncollider, It's no big deal, I am currently running the set up you are asking about. I built my house 4 yrs ago myself, installed a propane furnace, heat pump, and a Clayton wood burning furnace in the basement. I went with a cheapo furnace and heat pump, since I can buy them at cost, I don't really care how long they last.

Moving heat around with fans | Hearth.com Forums Home
Vaulted all the way up, probably 20'. Actually right now its just me in the house upstairs, had a renter in one of the bedrooms but he's moved out. so I've been keeping the door to the basement and both bedrooms closed to keep the heat to myself! In the process of selecting another renter but don't want to literally invite trouble into my house.

Dog house? | Hearth.com Forums Home
Maybe the Mansfield is different, but on the 30 the dog house air is not really controlled by adjusting the primary air lever. The air control lever adjusts how much air comes down over the air wash. If anything, when closing the primary air down the dog house air come out harder.

Wood stove sizing in distal end of house - Hearth.com Forums
The house is 2,000 SF with 60% downstairs and closed concept, draft farmhouse. The stove would be in the best insulated room, sized as 18x13, but on the distal end. We cut transoms over doorways and the stairs, added an OAK, which really helped mellow out the stove room, but still struggled to get much heat into the other rooms.

2009 House with Fireplace Insert - What do these levers do?
Our house was built in 2009 and it has a beautiful fireplace with an insert. We didn't do too many fires last winter (maybe 1) but this year are wanting to use it more. The issue is, it has (3) levers under the doors - in addition to a knob in the lower right.

Unable to carry 40-pound pellet bags into house from truck - looking ...
We have had our Harman pellet stove for 8 years now and love it; however, both my husband and I have developed knee and back problems since we first got the stove and are finding it very difficult to lug those 40-pound bags into our house from our truck (stairs to climb while carrying the pellets into the house make it difficult and hard on the ...
